Throughout my first set of field notes I observed that the University Program board conducts their meetings in a very professional conduct. The meetings are ran by the President of the University Program board. He calls the meeting to order and makes his opening statement. After he is done with his opening announcements the officers and program directors then make their announcement by order of rank. Once all of the officers and program directors are finished with their announcements the floor is turned over to Graduate Assistants and Board Supervisors for any opening statements they may have.
Once opening statements are made issues on the agenda are brought to the floor for discussion by the President. Before anything can be discussed the floor must be motioned to be open for discussion by one officer or program director and seconded by another. Once floor is open to discussion the items on the agenda are discussed and possibly voted on. When voting for events, co-sponsorships, or by-law suspensions the University program board uses the traditional Ya versus Nay style of verbal voting.
