Box 11

For my field study the Fixed positions that may influence how I view those involved would definitely be my age. Most of the people that are involved with UPB are freshman and sophomores here at BSU with the exception of a few older members and the Graduate Assistants. Working with people of a younger age may make it harder to gather highly detailed information about the group. Though many of the new officers for UPB are freshman so as the semester progresses it might not be as difficult to get the in depth and complicated answers i might need.
As for my Subjective positions, the area I grew up in and the way I was taught to complete tasks could make it more difficult to get highly involved with the group until i learn exactly how to put my old ways behind and jump into this new way of doing things. The way I was brought was to always work hard but at the same time to just relax, take your time, and make sure everything is right one step at a time. Working with UPB over the past two meeting I can tell that I am going to have many things I can learn and take away from this experience. For one example it would be the way in which they work. Everything is fast paced, get it done quickly, meet the deadline type of work. While I did a little of this in my high school yearbook class, it doesn't even compare to the pace at which these people work. I will have to learn to move a lot quicker, while managing to stay organized and finish all my assigned tasks effectively in the short period of time offered.
