When I read and reread Mama Day I found it difficult to read the first time but it made it a little more sense the second time through. One of my personal assumptions would be that the writer is from the deep south and can't read or write very well. A lot of the sentences didn't make sense when I first looked at them, but if I replaced and added some words i noticed I could read the story a lot easier.
